If you have the audacity to call a hijabi out on doing something “haram” while you don’t even wear Hijab, get out of my sight.

Wearing the Hijab doesn’t make me a spokesperson for all Muslims or Islam. If I make a mistake I shouldn’t be judged by a fellow Muslim, especially if they themselves don’t even wear the Hijab. “You’re making Muslims look bad.”

BIIITCH WHO are YOU to tell me that I’m making Muslims look bad?
WTH

I don’t care if you’re telling me I’m “slut shaming” or whatever the hell. I am following one of the commands of Allah SWT, and you have no right to tell me that I’m making Islam look bad.

Ainee just made a post talking about how Hijab.≠ Halo and she’s right. It doesn’t.

& for your information not wearing Hijab doesn’t stop you from being a Muslim, I don’t give a fuckkk if people don’t assume you’re Muslim. You still have to do your Muslim duties to Allah, hijabis are not perfect and not wearing Hijab doesn’t give you an excuse to call them out.

Stop putting Hijabis on a fucking pedestal.

We’re human beings too.

Muslim Doodles by Mehreen Kasana
That’s me. While I understand these doodles don’t represent all the problems Muslims face in this age, I thought I’d start off with a few commonly occurring ones. e.g. The pseudo-liberating complex often shoved in front of Muslim women, the ridiculous misconception folks have that all Muslim women wear body coverings like the burqa, niqab, hijab, etc. Of being called “terrorists” by bigots, of putting up with it on a frequent basis. Of having to answer the irritating question pertaining to why some of us choose to cover our bodies. This is the first part. More to come. (Because ignorance thrives in today’s world.)
All this with a dash of my humor. Be well, folks.

I approve highly of this. Going to a school with a decent Muslim population and also an annoyingly vocal and corpulent Bible Fellowship table that probably mutters in secret about how the student-organization table across from them is either taken up by the Muslim Student Association or the Feminist Student Union (never both, because it is a smaller table than that of the Bible Fellowship), and how this is secretly a Feminist-Muslim-Terrorist plot. Still, that notion that everyone wearing a body covering (for religious reasons) is somehow being repressed is…just fucking idiotic.

Very glad the point of these doodles is being received well. Thanks for your input!

My friend (who wears the Hijab) wanted a doodle just for her - and based on an experience she’d often have, in conversation and once in action about her headscarf when some Western feminists told her to “take it off.” It may not be the most original one (I’ve seen excellent doodles on Tumblr about this debate) but I made sure her expression remains genuine as it is.
More power to you, babe.

Hijabis are not the representatives of Islam, all Muslims are.
Stop telling us that! We all have this responsibility, hijab/beard or not.

Also, sorry to all my followers.

I really hate the word kafir.

And I almost never use it.

But a comment like that deserved that.

Muslim women who choose to wear the Hijab but are also Athletes of the fiercest kind.

Are we supposed to admire their devotion to their invisible douchebag in the sky? They’re are the Uncle Toms of feminism.

Please shut up, really.

No, you shut up. And make me a halal BLT. Your god compels you to. SRLY Google that shit!

I’m at a loss of words because of your stupidity.

I’m really intrigued as to where you found the words: “Women of Islam, it is your duty to cover yourself and make kafir assholes BLTs as long as they’re halal,” in the Qur’an.
Jesus, sometimes I really hate sharing oxygen with stupid people. No, you need to shut your white ass up.

I wear hijab and finding work was very difficult. I worked in a dollar store for a while and the customers were horrible. I work as a medical professional now and it’s a MILLION times better. Yes, it does, usually, except for high-Muslim places.

It can be a real obstacle sometimes.

My mom works specifically in community-based jobs, such as teaching at Muslim-run schools, tutoring Muslim children, etc.

10:14 pm, by strawberreli,

Anonymous asked: today at work i had a muslim family, some in the hijab and some in full body veils (sorry i've forgotten names) and i asked myself a question - when you are a muslim and fully covered does it make finding work, whether part time or full time, difficult? or do they do other things or do they work in a community based thing instead? i'm sorry if this question sounds stupid, i was curious about some of the day to day things, and life in general.

Sorry! I was downstairs nomming on spiced artichoke hearts, and didn’t see this right away!

You should probably ask someone who wears the hijab or niqab (head/face) or burqa (full body) all the time (and also has a job, as I’ve never really had a real job other than tutoring children in recitation).

However, from what I know, depending on where you live, you can be subject to discrimination based on religious preferences, though they’ll never outright say it to your face. Dell fired my dad’s whole division and we moved down to Texas. There was a group in my dad’s division responsible for the messed-up O-ring (T+ 59.262) and, though it wasn’t my dad’s fault, they’d been looking for a reason to fire him for months because the boss was a known xenophobe. So, they’ll find something to fire you for if they’re really serious about you not working there, but those are extreme cases, and I think it’d be a little bit easier now.

By all means, I’m not saying that the problems have gone away. But yeah.

10:06 pm, by strawberreli,

Hahahahaha, I just figured out that that hijabi meme is my friend Ilana.

My sister called me downstairs, and was like, “Look, it’s Sr. Amalia’s daughter.”

Hahahaha, this makes it all the more perfect.
