Still sick of women being called bitches, twats, and cunts when they do shitty things. There are plenty of ways to talk about how awful they are without using sexism. There are also plenty of ways to insult them without using sexism.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. I don’t see anyone using homophobic slurs against dan savage despite how awful he is. When it’s a (white) dude people seem to be perfectly capable of calling him out without resorting to slurs (or rape threats)

this so much. I can’t with ANYONE who resorts to misogyny to criticise women who are awful. it’s a deal breaker for me. I literally do not care what issue is on the table. being a fucking misogynist in response to fucked behaviour is not the answer.

You don’t get to decide how a woman gets to reclaim words. If someone is being a jackass it’s my right to call them a cunt [unless it triggers them and I know because then I’m being an ass] but fuck that. Bitch and cunt are two of my favorite words and nothing will change that. You don’t get to police my language.

You’re not reclaiming it if you’re still using it in its original manner as an insult. If you’re a woman and say “you’re an awesome bitch” that’s one thing, but calling a woman a “fucking disgusting bitch” is not reclaiming. It is misogynistic.

exactly. reclaiming words means using them in reference TO YOURSELF. For example, a woman who has been called a slut may take that word and say, YOU KNOW WHAT, I AM A SLUT, AND THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT, I’M THE BADDEST SLUT YOU WILL EVER MEET and turn it into something powerful instead of something degrading. But just because YOU are reclaiming that word doesn’t mean the woman across the street is reclaiming it or wants to reclaim it, so don’t force it on her, and don’t call her a word she is not okay with, because maybe she hears it on a daily basis from misogynistic fuckers and you are just adding to that, and well, if yr using it as an insult to hurt her, than you are no better than the misogynists she has to listen to every day
