I was rereading Dykes to Look Out For 

and Toni calls Lois a philistine and it really rubbed me the wrong way so I went home and looked up origins of the word and I don’t really get why a “philistine mindset” is one that “undervalues/despises art, beauty, spirituality, and intellect.”
